HelloMelon

Project Overview
Project Name: HelloMelon - Village-based Healthcare Experience
Platform: Web (Responsive)
Role: UI/UX Designer (End-to-End)
Timeline: 4–6 weeks
Team: UI/UX Designer & Illustration Designer collaborated with developers & stakeholders
Goal
To reimagine healthcare as a friendly, approachable, and stress-free experience, especially for users who feel intimidated by traditional clinical systems.
Problem Statement (Customer Obsession)
Traditional healthcare platforms often feel:
Rigid and clinical
Overloaded with medical jargon
Emotionally intimidating, especially for first-time or anxious users
This creates:
Fear and hesitation in seeking care
Poor engagement and trust
Difficulty understanding health information
How might we design a healthcare experience that feels safe, friendly, and easy to understand rather than cold and intimidating?
Key Challenges
Medical terminology creates confusion and fear
Clinical UI design feels impersonal
Users hesitate to engage with healthcare platforms
Lack of emotional connection and trust
UX Strategy & Solution
🧠 Design Philosophy
“Healthcare doesn’t have to feel like a hospital.”
The experience was designed as a village, not a clinic shifting the mental model from “medical system” to “community support”.
How the Problems Were Solved
1.Reframing Healthcare as a Village
Problem: Clinics feel cold and intimidating
Solution:
Introduced a village metaphor instead of hospital layouts
Each section represents a friendly space rather than a department
Warm illustrations and characters guide users through the experience
📌 Impact: Users feel welcomed, not judged or overwhelmed.
2.Friendly Language Instead of Medical Jargon
Problem: Users struggle with complex medical terminology
Solution:
Replaced clinical terms with human, conversational language
Used phrases like:
“Explore the Village” instead of “Our Services”
“A Villager’s Story” instead of “Patient Case Studies”
📌 Impact: Improved comprehension and emotional comfort.
3.Fun, Approachable Visual Design
Problem: Traditional healthcare UIs feel serious and stressful
Solution:
Soft color palette
Rounded shapes and playful illustrations
Mascot pip characters to guide and reassure users
📌 Impact: Reduced anxiety and increased engagement.
4.Storytelling to Build Trust
Problem: Users don’t emotionally connect with healthcare platforms
Solution:
Introduced storytelling sections like “A Villager’s Story”
Used characters and narratives to explain healthcare journeys
📌 Impact: Helped users see themselves in the experience, increasing trust.
5.Simplified Navigation & Content Hierarchy
Problem: Healthcare platforms often overwhelm users with information
Solution:
Clear visual hierarchy
Bite-sized content blocks
One primary action per section
📌 Impact: Faster understanding and easier decision-making.
